I would like to know if there is any progress as far as the prospect of trials-by-jury, sir.

Well, I had thought of instituting that policy into our system, but after thinking and debating on it further with the Parliament I decided not to. The main reason is due to the fact that there is no way to prevent a possible corruption of the jurors. Jurors may have political ties to defendants and or plaintiffs and thereof may vote accordingly. The courts would have to also go through a jury selection process which would take an enormous amount of time. In short, while the jury idea is a great ideal it's not very practical for our purposes, so we will not be being it into effect. I remind you though that the selection of judges is a lengthy process, and I do make sure we have qualified people on the bench to determine verdicts.

My question to the Chief Justice is if you can give us a little run down of how Judges are trained? This goes for Supreme Court Justices, Magistrate, and Circuit.
Thank you

Sure! Magistrate Judges go through a training course on how to correctly preside over hearings, trials and the likes. They are also mandated to read through my lectures as well as all the laws that pertain to our system. Circuit Judges must also do the same, and Supreme Court Justices must also follow suit. However I take a bit more time and effort to making sure each Justice is chosen carefully, and that each Justice knows our law. If you also would like to know, in order to become a judge one must complete a lengthy application as well as ascertain letters of recommendation on their behalf.
