The Commonwealth will hear the following trial, declared and tried in absentia for the Isles of Azoria, due to current circumstances.
The evidence for this trial is presented as follows:
At or around 2014EDT on 23AUG15, the Isles of Azoria posted the following, which can be found on the Regional Message Board (page 5415):
"I have way too much going on in my personal life to deal with everyone's crap. I tried to help this region out but clearly everyone wants to be idiotic and not give anything a chance. I am tired of the crap that a select few like to pull, MARK, EVEREST, BAXTEN, and many others.
I am going to start my master's degree program soon and I do not need this frustration. I thought that this site would be a lot of fun but it has been nothing but stress.
Bye "
Azoria was at that time in possession of the Regional Citizenship Office nation, as well as the Ministry of Culture page. Azoria was appointed as the Minister of Culture, and the election for a new Minister of Internal Affairs had not yet taken place.
At or around 2027EDT, it was noticed that Azoria had departed the Region for the Pacific. Time of departure was 2020EDT. It was then noticed by Markotovia that Azoria had, in leaving the region, deleted the citizenship roster and the map on his way out, changing the passwords for the Regional Citizenship Office on his way out.
At 2014EDT, on the Pacific RMB, Azoria posted the following after leaving the region:
At approximately 2049EDT, after consultation with Chief Justice Ruclax, it was decided that we would issue a ruling in absentia for the Isles of Azoria.
At this time, the Commonwealth finds the defendant guilty of the following charges:
Terrorism, and Treason.
Terrorism and Treason are defined by Parliament Bill 0054 "The Definitions and Penal Act" as the following:
Article III. Terrorism
Shall be defined as the use of violence, through words and or actions, with the specific aim of targeting political systems. In essence, terrorism charges shall only legitimate is the crime itself used words and actions which had the goal of dismantling or weakening the political system to the point of complete regional vulnerability to outside threats. If a crime does not meet these standards it may not be used in the court as a terrorism charge.
Crimes which are labeled Terrorism shall also be labeled as comprises of National Security. Both shall have the same conditions as one crime and charge not two separate crimes.
Article IV. Treason
Treason is defined as a crime which betrays ones own citizenship to his or her country in putting that county, CM, at risk of invasion, coue, or hostilities from another country. Treason may also be defined as a crime in which the action prevents the government from keeping the peace or keeping secure the region's safety.
The Commonwealth finds the Defendant guilty of Terrorism based on the following: The deletion of the citizenship office was, as defined in Article three, a violent attack with the specific aim of targeting political systems. As the citizenship roster is necessary to good order and parliamentary procedure, and as further confirmed by the defendant's statement at 2049EDT on 23AUG15, the deletion of the citizenship roster was aimed to break up what the defendant perceived to be a ruling clique within the Commonwealth. The Defendant's particular belief in this case is irrelevant to the law- whether such a clique or cliques exists is immaterial- the deletion of the citizenship roster constitutes an attack on the operation of government. Further, the defendant's aims to steer individuals in a feeder region from joining the CFN is violence of words, which can be further construed as directly attacking the work of the Vice Chancellor as well as the work of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in that it has the potential to damage recruiting efforts and diplomatic efforts.
The Commonwealth finds the Defendant guilty of Treason on the basis of the following: The deletion of the citizenship office was a crime betraying the citizenship that up until now, the Isles of Azoria maintained. By the deletion of the citizenship roster, the Isles of Azoria subsequently endangering the region's safety by removing the ability to track who had attained citizenship. By removing the ability to track citizenship, the ability to ensure votes were counted correctly was also removed. That the citizenship roster was recovered is not a defense in this instance, as the deletion was done with malice aforethought, as a result of the Isles of Azoria facing challenges over the Ministry of Culture, a bill that the Isles of Azoria sponsored. Additionally, the post at 2049EDT on 23AUG15 could additionally have brought about hostilities for individuals who had not followed what had transpired in the region, and what incidents had occurred leading up to the present situation.
It is with a heavy heart and with a sense of justice that this Court HEREBY IMPOSES the following sentences, in line with Parliament Bill 0057 "The Commonwealth Penal Codes Act":
For the count of terrorism: Indefinite dismissal from from the region.
For the count of treason: Indefinite dismissal from the region.
It is further recommended by this Court to the Superior Court that there be no possibility for parole, based on the potential calamity that was fortuitously averted due to the quick thinking of members of this region.
At this time, this Court is prepared to hear questions.
