Parliamentary Series #7
AUTHOR: Vista Major DATE: March 18th, 2015 AD
Endorsements: Denouncements:
THE VOTER RENEWAL ACT Recognizing the right for citizens and residents in the Commonwealth to vote for whoever they desire on the ballot. Concerned that less than 60% of eligible voters actually vote, therefore our government only reflects the views of a minority of the citizen population. Believing that policies should be put in place in order to maximize our government and the voting populous.
ARTICLES: •All citizens and residents within the Commonwealth (excluding foreigners) will be required to vote for Cabinet in every other election cycle, at least. •These citizens will have to vote for a Chancellor and Minister of Defense. All other offices can be ignored, if desired. •If none of the options for Chancellor or Minister of Defense appeal to the voter, he/she (the voter) can vote "None of The Above/Abstain", or "write-in" a candidate, provided that the candidate is an active citizen. •If a citizen is unable to vote during an election in which it is required of them to do so, they must notify the Chancellor at least 24 hours prior to the first election night. •If a citizen does not vote in an election in which they must, they shall receive one strike. After two strikes, their citizenship is temporarily revoked (1-month), and a decision by the Minister of Internal Affairs can have the citizenship revoked indefinitely. •Citizens can appeal to the Chancellor to be exempted from this law, if they have a logical reason. If granted, they are relieved of the duty, but not the right, to vote.

I will ABSTAIN from this bill, because I understand that you're trying to fix the voter turnout issue, but we should create a bill that encourages more people to vote, not punish people for missing an election.
As well, why is the MoD so important. It's not that I don't think highly of the position, but I think other than Chancellor, Minister of Internal Affairs is the next most important position. Anyways, that's my opinion

I denounce. Punishing people for not voting is not the answer. If it's your goal to reorganize the citizenship system or increase activity, I can understand, but forcing apathetic people into decisions goes against my beliefs.

Denounced
While I see what you are trying to do, I feel this is the wrong way of going about it. Punishing people for not voting by taking their citizenship away... We should instead be encouraging citizens to participate more, not forcing them to.

Denounced.
I see what you are trying to do. However it's essentially compulsory voting, which is just wrong. People are not to be forced to vote, should they not want to.

What would you all suggest? Sorry Vista, but this bill can easily weaken our elections. I think the bill would need a complete rework, or just toss it out.

I hereby denounce this bill. Unfortunately, there really is no effective way for the CFN to force people to vote, and this bill does not seem like the proper remedy.
